Setoria is known for her captivating stage presence and soulful performances across R&B, Soul, Neo-Soul, Funk, and Contemporary Jazz. Based in the Washington, DC area and a Voting Member of the Recording Academy, she has made a name for herself with her powerful interpretations of popular songs, while simultaneously creating and performing her own original music. Her sound has drawn comparisons to celebrated artists like Jill Scott and Maysa, and her musical influences run deep, including legends like Lauryn Hill, Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, and Chuck Brown.
Setoria's musical career took flight with the release of her debut single, Shorty, in May 2014. The song quickly gained international attention. She received widespread acclaim at the 2016 Josie Music Awards (JMA’s), earning a nomination for Best R&B/Soul Song of the Year with her single, Spell On Me, as well as her first win for R&B/Soul Artist of the Year. She returned to Nashville the following year to reclaim her title as R&B/Soul Artist of the Year at the 2017 JMAs.
Her single, Say My Name, continued her winning streak, taking home R&B/Soul Song of the Year at the 2018 JMAs, with its music video also receiving accolades at the 2019 Philadelphia Independent Film Awards and the 2019 Philadelphia Film Festival.
Her 2021 single, Back 2 Me, brought another major victory—R&B/Soul Single of the Year at the 2022 JMAs. Setoria dedicated this win to raising awareness around mental health, aligning her music with a message of empowerment. To further her support for mental advocacy, Setoria launched the lifestyle clothing line Setoria Collective, with her first collection titled #HUSTLE (Having Uncompromising Self-Determination To Live Empowered) . The collection was created to inspire her audience and promote resilience.
As an advocate for curvy women, Setoria proudly represents the Smooches Woman Movement as a model and Music Brand Ambassador. In collaboration with Multi Grammy nominated, Multi Platinum Record Producer, Herb Middleton and songwriter, La' Trese Jones, she co-wrote the anthem Look at Us, a song promoting body positivity and women’s empowerment. She was celebrated and featured on the cover of the Spring 2025 Smooches Woman Magazine.
Setoria is passionate about supporting independent artists. She co-hosted Black Gold Radio, an internet radio show that supported Independent creators in music, film, and fashion. Although the show concluded in 2017, her commitment to championing independent artists, small business owners, and community leaders remain unwavering.
